Continuing south via the old Sprengisandur highland trail you get a magnificent view to the Hofsj÷kull and Tungnafellsj÷kull glaciers. The northern part of the trial sees little use and it can be difficult to spot where the track goes when fording the rivers you encounter. This time I took a chance and tried to follow some smaller trails going south in order to avoid the southern section of the new Sprengisandur track, it's very corrugated and a real pain to drive.
Lucky I succeed and saw some new and beautiful scenery completely bypassing the bigger F26 track on some tiny trails to the west.
